EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case of the murdered Super TV Chief Executive Officer, Usifo Ataga, from Lagos to Abuja.
It was gathered that the IGP ordered that the case be taken up by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), while the murder prime suspect, 21-year-old Chidinma Ojukwu, would also be brought to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“IGP has approved the transfer of Usifo Ataga’s murder case to Abuja. It will be handled by the FCID,” a top source revealed.
EKO HOT BLOG had earlier reported that the family of the late Super TV CEO accused the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, of complicity in an alleged attempt to protect the killers of the 50-year-old businessman.
They further alleged that the family was not informed when the prime suspect, Chidinma Ojukwu, was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Yaba, Lagos.
EKO HOT BLOG recalls that the late Super TV CEO was killed on June 15, 2021, at a shortlet apartment in Lekki, Lagos where he was reportedly spending a weekend with his lover, Chidinma Ojokwu.
The UNILAG student was consequently arrested on June 23 in her father’s house in Yaba and paraded at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.
It would be further recalled that Chidinma confessed to stabbing the Super TV CEO with a knife under the influence of alcohol and withdrawing N380,000 from the victim’s account with his ATM card.
The UNILAG undergraduate, however, backtracked later in a video, exonerating herself from the murder.
EKO HOT BLOG had reported that Usifo, aged 50, was buried on July 30, 2021, in Lagos State.
