EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mbaise Local Council in Imo State, Obinna Onuamah, has been pronounced dead.
The PDP Chairman was said to have died of COVID-19 complications at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owerri, the Imo State capital last Friday.
A source close to the deceased, disclosed that the late PDP Chairman, until his death, had served the party in many capacities in the state.
Onuamah was said to be one of the close aides to former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha.
He was also said to be eyeing the State House of Assembly to represent Aboh Mbaise in 2023.
“Before he died on Friday at FMC, Owerri, he was having difficulty with breathing. He was rushed to the hospital some days ago and was kept at the isolation unit. But on Friday morning, we received the sad news of his death.
“He was a jovial and easy going person. His death is a very big blow not only to his immediate family, friends and associates, but also the entire PDP at both Aboh Mbaise and Imo State at large. He will be greatly missed,” the source stated.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that Onuamah was elected as Councillor for Lorge in Aboh Mbaise Local Council in 2002.
He also served as Special Assistant on Protocol to Ihedioha during his time as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
