INEC Declares Winner Of Yobe South Senatorial Poll

  • INEC has declared APC’s Bomai the winner of the Yobe South Senatorial District.

  • Bomai garnered 69,596 votes to defeat his closest rival Halilu Mazagane, who polled 68,885 votes.

  • The electoral umpire had declared the election in the zone inconclusive following reports of over-voting.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yobe State has declared Ibrahim Bomai as the duly elected Senator representing Yobe South Senatorial District.

Abatcha Melemi, the Returning Officer, announced the results on Saturday at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Potiskum.

According to Melemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bomai, emerged victorious with 69,596 votes, defeating his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Halilu Mazagane, who garnered 68,885 votes.

INEC had earlier declared the election in zone inconclusive resulting from over voting at Manawachi polling unit in the Fika Local Government Area of the state.
