JUST IN: Jigawa Extends Coronavirus Lockdown Order

As a result of the rising number of Coronavirus cases in the country, the Jigawa State Government has extended the two-week workers’ stay at home order to 21st April 2020.

The State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, made this know in a press briefing at the state Government House in Dutse, the Jigawa state Capital on Tuesday.

According to him, with the increase in the number of confirmed cases in the country, the state must take additional measures in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

He added that the status quo remains on the closure of schools, closure of borders with other states and the suspension of all ceremonies.

The Governor while listing the achievements of the taskforce on COVID-19 says his administration has procured ventilators and has scaled up isolation centre to 300-bed capacity by utilizing a three-star hotel and the NYSC orientation camp.

Similarly, the state Governor while responding to questions from journalists, revealed that the state is working with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to convert gene-expert machines to COVID-19 testing kits.
