JUST IN: Labour Party Dumps Gov Candidate, Throws Weight Behind PDP In Rivers

  • The Labour Party has dumped their own governorship candidate in Rivers State.

  • The party has thrown their weight behind the PDP’s guber candidate.

  • The Rivers State Chairman of the party, Dienye Pepple, made this known in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Labour Party in Rivers state has announced support for the Gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Siminialayi Fubara ahead of Saturday’s governorship elections in the state.

This was announced by the Rivers State Chairman of the party, Dienye Pepple, in Port Harcourt on Tuesday in a communique arising from the executive meeting of the party.

The party has reportedly abandoned its standard bearer, Mrs. Beatrice Itubo.
Pepple noted that its decision was following uncertainties around its candidate in the state, Mrs Beatrice Itubo.

The state party’s chair noted that in the interest of equity and fairness, that the party resolved to adopt, Fubara, who hails from the Rivers South-East Senatorial district, noting that its the only district that has not produced governor.
