EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Labour Party has responded to the recent ruling by a Federal High Court in Kano that nullified the election of Dr. Alex Otti as the Governor-elect of Abia State.

Justice M.N. Yunusa presided over the court proceedings and delivered a ruling that invalidated the elections of Otti and all other Labour Party.

The court based its decision on the grounds that Otti’s emergence and the candidacy of other affected individuals did not adhere to the provisions outlined in the 2022 Electoral Act.

In response to the court’s ruling, Hon. Ceekay Igara, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia State, dismissed the decision as “laughable.”

Igara asserted that the court’s pronouncement would bear no significance in the forthcoming inauguration of the Governor-elect.

He emphasised that only an election tribunal can remove a democratically elected individual from office.

In his statement, Igara expressed, “The court’s pronouncement is laughable. Everyone should continue with their regular activities. Only the tribunal can remove Alex Otti.
