EKO HOT BLOG reports that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the establishment of the units as part of efforts to improve the security architecture of the state.
This was made known by the General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Prince (Dr.) Ifalade Oyekan. He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the safety and security of the lives and properties of residents in the State.
Ifalade said that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration has, since inception, embarked on the implementation of a master plan for safety and security.
He explained further that, “in line with the plan, Mr. Governor has recently approved the establishment of new units in the Agency such as the Forensics, Forest Rangers, Marine, Technical and Mechanical Units, among others, as well as the purchase of drones for intelligence gatherings towards enhancing service delivery by the LNSA.”
He added that the initiative is also geared toward improving the information-gathering capacity of the Corps officers, the uniformed arm of the Agency, at the grassroots as conceptualised in the T.H.E.M.E.S development agenda of the administration.
Soliciting the support and cooperation of all residents as well as other law enforcement agencies in Lagos State towards the attainment of the Greater Lagos vision of the Sanwo-Olu administration, Oyekan emphasised that the forum will be a continuous programme aimed at sharing ideas on enhancing the security situation in the State.
In his presentation, the guest speaker, Audu Alqali, said insecurity could be effectively tackled when security personnel collaborates on joint operations and are prepared to protect the identity of informants.
He also asserted that security is the business of everyone, including all members of society, hence all hands must be on deck to curb all forms of crimes and criminalities in Lagos state.
Representatives of various stakeholders including the Army, Navy, Police, FRSC, LASTMA and LASEMA, also applauded the intelligence gathering efforts and support of the operatives of LNSA to other law enforcement agencies in Lagos State.
They also spoke extensively on their experiences and interactions with the Agency and its Officers, just as they called for the support and understanding of every resident towards enhancing the security situation in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
