Rumours had emerged that the Northern Caucus in the lower chamber has the intention to impeach Gbajabiamila over the controversial Water Resources Bill.
The controversial Water Resources Bill, which seeks to bring all water resources (surface and underground) and the banks of the water sources under the control of the Federal Government, was first introduced in the 8th Assembly.
The bill was rejected by the lawmakers in the 8th Assembly.
The bill was again reintroduced in the House of Representatives chamber on June 29.
The lawmaker representing Jibia/Kaita constituency, Sada Jibiya who sponsored the bill, said wide consultations have been made for a better version of the bill.
Jibiya assured his colleagues that he would withdraw the bill if there are indications it would negatively affect any section of the country.
The lawmakers, however, during plenary on Tuesday debunked the report of planning to impeach Gbajabiamila.
Members of the House condemned the report, insisting that they are solidly behind the speaker.
