EKO HOT BLOG reports that Manchester City is reportedly set to offer Norwegian striker Erling Haaland a new contract worth £500,000-a-week, making him the highest-paid player in the history of the Premier League. The 22-year-old has been in red-hot form for the Premier League champions, scoring 42 goals in his debut campaign.

According to The UK Sun, Manchester City will sit down with Haaland at the end of the season to negotiate the new deal, which will see him earn £500,000-per-week, a significant increase from his current salary of £375,000-per-week.
The striker currently shares the top spot as the highest-paid player in the Premier League with teammate Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.
Haaland’s impressive performances have made him one of the most sought-after strikers in world football, with several top clubs across Europe linked with him. However, Manchester City is confident that they can convince him to stay despite Real Madrid’s interest.
The Norwegian’s former agent, the late Mino Raiola, had previously hinted that his Haaland’s future could lie away from Manchester City. Still, the club is reportedly determined to keep him, with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola a big admirer of the young striker, seeing him as a key player in the club’s future plans.
If the new contract is agreed upon, Haaland will become the first player in Premier League history to earn £500,000-a-week, surpassing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Haaland’s potential departure from Manchester City would be a significant loss for the club, given his impressive performances this season. The striker’s goals have helped the club to win the Premier League title and reach the final of the Champions League, where they will face fellow English side Chelsea.
