EKOHOTBLOG reports that millions of MTN subscribers, on Saturday, experienced service outage as they were unable to connect with loved ones and business associates in various parts of the country.
This online news platform gathered that the MTN customers were unable to use the mobile network operator’s call, data and SMS services as “Emergency calls only” showed on the screens of MTN users on Saturday.
It was further learnt that millions of subscribers experienced the service outage around 2:30pm on Saturday.
Some of the users, who also subscribed to other telecom service providers, have since switched over in the interim to link up with friends and family.
Efforts to reach MTN Senior Manager, External Relations, Funso Aina, proved abortive on Saturday.
MTN Nigeria later posted on its official Facebook page, noting that “Some of our customers are having difficulty connecting to the network today. We’re looking into this and are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
However, while some subscribers report that the outage has been resolved as of 6pm on Saturday, others are still encountering difficulty using MTN services.
