EKO HOT BLOG reports that a deafening explosion reverberated through Ibadan and its surrounding areas in Oyo state, shattering windows at multiple locations, according to local residents.
The incident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, marked by a substantial blast heard in and around the city. As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the sound remains unknown. Thousands of residents have confirmed the occurrence.
Seismologists have indicated that there are no reports of an earthquake in the area. Rumors circulating on social media regarding an incident at a gas station could not be immediately verified.
The explosion was also audible in Apete, Ojoo, UI, Moniya, Awotan, Alaro/Poly Ibadan, and Jeje. Numerous residents reported feeling their houses shake, with some stating that their windows sustained damage.
