EKO HOT BLOG reports that Dr. Sam Amadi, former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has announced his intention to run for the Imo State governorship seat in the 2023 elections.

The renowned analyst on Arise TV made the announcement on his official Twitter handle, stating that he is ready to contest and serve the people of Imo State. He declared his candidacy under the Labour Party (LP).

Amadi’s declaration was made in a series of tweets where he emphasized the importance of truth in leadership and encouraged the people of Imo State to dream of a new and better future.

He wrote, “The courageous life is a life lived in the practice and defence of truth. Dream of NEW IMO. Don’t mind those who are frightened because the people are up to choose the person who can best serve them. Let’s move on with the NEW IMO.”

Confirming his intention to contest under the Labour Party, Amadi stated in an interview with DAILY POST on Friday that he is ready to offer his services to the people of Imo State. The state’s gubernatorial election has been scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for November 11, 2023, alongside the elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states.

Dr. Sam Amadi is a seasoned technocrat, lawyer, and human rights activist who served as the Chairman of NERC from 2010 to 2015.
