Eko Hot Blog reports that Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey Effiong, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has set an astonishing new World Record for the Longest Cooking Time.
She smashed the old record of Indian chef Lata Tandon, who set a Guinness World Record for cooking for 87 hours and 45 minutes nonstop in 2019, on her way to setting a new record.
Hilda, who started cooking at 4 pm last Thursday, completed her cooking at 8 pm on Monday night after 100 hours of marathon cooking.
She reached her initial target of 96 hours at 4 pm on Monday, but she persisted and pushed to 100 hours.
During the cook-a-thon, the chef was only allowed a one-hour break in 12 hours. She spent the break napping and getting medial attention.
Hilda was not permitted to sit while cooking.
She was not allowed to take coffee, stimulants, or any energy drink to artificially boost her energy and bodily strength while cooking
The record-breaker was, however, allowed to eat food, drink water or fruit juice, and take glucose.
Hilda cooked different meals simultaneously and had liberty to cook any meal she wanted.
Several political leaders, including President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, President-elect Bola Tinubu, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, Former Akwa Ibom Governor, Godswill Akpabio, and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, have praised the Akwa Ibom-born chef for her inspiring and daring move.
Hilda has also received praise from millions of Nigerians online and offline.
