Nigerian Street Pop Singer Mohbad Dead At 27

Eko Hot Blog reports that Nigerian artiste Promise Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as MohBad (Imole), is dead.

He was 27.

The former Marlian record signee died on Tuesday.

MohBad’s family confirmed his demise in a statement posted on his official social media handles.

The family said their deceased loved one was Light until his death, while thanking those who have showed love and prayed for the family.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of Promise Oladimeji Aloba PK/A MohBad (Imole) today, the 12th of September, 2023,” the statement reads.

“MohBad was Light until the very end, and as we mourn the loss of the brightness he carried, the family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.

“Imole is finally at Peace.”

The family, however, did not reveal the cause of the 27-year-old rapper’s death.

Mohbad is a former artiste of Marlian Records, which is owned by Naira Marley.

But in October 2022, the singer alleged assault by the record label’s head honcho.

Mohbad also claimed members of Marley’s music label assaulted him for requesting a new manager.

In his reaction, Naira Marley alleged Mohbad was “high” when making the assault allegation.

The singer would later terminate his contract with Marlian Records.

Bella Shmurda, the Afropop singer, also revealed how Mohbad attempted to end his life during the rift with Naira Marley.

“At a point, Myself and Mohbad were in an apartment, and he said he wanted to jump from upstairs,” he had said.
