The congress announced the suspension of the proposed nationwide strike and mass protest after a meeting of its leadership and President Bola Tinubu on Monday.

The decision came hours after a court restrained the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) from embarking on strike.

As the court delivered its order, the NLC leadership was meeting with a Federal Government delegation.

The resolution of the meeting, which lasted for six hours, was announced by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and confirmed by the NLC president, Joe Ajaero.

The parties agreed to continue consultations and reconvene on June 19, 2023.

“The NLC to suspend notice of strike forthwith to enable further consultations,” part of the resolutions reads.

“The TUC and the NLC to continue ongoing engagements with the Federal Government and secure closure on the resolutions.
