EKO HOT BLOG reports that in advance of the Population and Housing Census in 2023, the National Population Commission (NPC) opened a call center.

Alhaji Nasir Kwarra, the commission’s chairman, stated during the unveiling on Tuesday in Abuja that NPC has stepped up preparations for the smooth completion of the country’s first digital census.

He said “the launch of this integrated call centre for the 2023 census is yet another major step toward making the head count a resounding success.

“It also underscores our commitment toward providing demographic data for national planning.”

He described population census as “a people-oriented activity that seeks to capture the demographic characteristics of the populace across the length and breadth of the country.”

The chairman emphasized the importance of setting up a channel for ongoing communication between the commission and the populace, so that information could be gathered, clarified, and comment on the census process could be gained.

He claims that in order to allow efficient communication for the census, the call center is outfitted with contemporary information and communication technology capabilities for video conferencing, emails, and telephone.
