At least one person was reported dead and many others injured when a clash ensued between the police and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as Shiites.
The incident reportedly took place, on Tuesday, at the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory near the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

The police, during the demonstration, were said to have fired shots and teargas canisters to disperse the Shiites and in the process, one of them was hit by a bullet.
The President, Academic Forum of IMN, Abdullahi Mohammed, who confirmed the incident to The PUNCH, said that many people were injured.
He said the IMN would soon be releasing an official statement on the incident.
