Recall that the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led Zoning Committee had recommended that the next national chairman of the party come from the north.

Some party members have expressed reservations about the recommendation and its implications for the presidential ambition of some northerners.

Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin, while addressing a press conference before the commencement of the meeting appealed to party leaders to put national interest and the party’s survival ahead of personal interests as they meet to take a decision on the zoning of party offices.
