Issues President-elect Tinubu Must Prioritise
Earlier, in January, the Appeal Court reinstated Lawal as the PDP gubernatorial flag-bearer in Zamfara State.
A high court sitting in Gusau, Zamfara State, had first nullified the primaries that produced Lawal. A former federal lawmaker, Ibrahim Shehu, had challenged Lawal’s election at the PDP primaries.
In its ruling, the appellate court set aside a judgment of the Federal High Court.
The matter dragged on to the apex court, which ruled in favour of Lawal today (Monday).
Reacting to the judgement, Lawal, in a statement by his media office, described the Supreme Court’s ruling as “a victory for democracy and the good people of Zamfara State”.
