Plateau Senator Mwadkwon Pips Tambuwal To Emerge Senate Minority Leader
Eko Hot Blog reports that Aminu Tambuwal, the senator representing Sokoto South, has lost his bid to become the minority leader of the 10th Senate.
Tambuwal, a member of the minority Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had shown significant interest in winning the position.

However, when Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the minority leadership of the upper legislative chamber on Tuesday, his name was conspicuously missing.
Akpabio named Simon Mwadkwon, the senator representing Plateau North, as the minority leader of the upper legislative chamber.
“The minority caucus of the senate is made up of about seven political parties and have come up with their leadership so I will proceed to announce [the names],” the senate president said.
“Senator Simon Mwadkwon, minority leader, Oyewumi Olalere, deputy minority leader, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, minority whip, and Senator Rufai Anga, deputy minority whip.”
Tambuwal’s bid to become minority leader was met with stiff resistance by some members of the PDP.
