EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of Dr Chike Akunyili, the husband of the late Minister of Information, Prof Dora Akunyili.
EKOHOTBLOG had reported that Chike Akunyili, a medical doctor and widower of a late Minister of Information, Prof. Dora Akunyili, was killed last Tuesday when he was returning from a commemorative lecture in honour of his late wife.
It was gathered that the husband of the late minister was killed at Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was further learnt that the victim was returning from Nsukka in Enugu State after attending a lecture hosted by the University of Nigeria to pay tribute to the late NAFDAC DG, Dora Akunyili.
However, the Anambra State Police Command, while reacting to the attacks in the state, further stated that it was hunting for those who set ablaze the houses of the Special Adviser to Lagos State Governor on Drainage and Water Resources, Joe Igbokwe, and the former Minister of Finance, Dr Chu Okongwu.
The two buildings were razed by unknown assailants last Sunday in Otolo, Nnewi.
During the Nnewi attack two persons were killed including a third-year Medical Laboratory student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Tony Olowu, did not mention the arrests, but a senior police source disclosed that four persons were arrested, saying two suspects were released after proper investigation.
“Anambra command will not rest until those behind these attacks, killings and arsons are exposed,” the source said.
