JUST IN: Seven Feared Killed As Motorcyclists Clash In Ogun

  • No fewer than seven persons have been reported dead as motorcyclists clashed in Ogun State.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that there was pandemonium in Ibese community in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State on Tuesday following a clash by motorcyclists popularly known as Okara riders.

It was gathered that the clash occurred on Tuesday over hike in ticket fee.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Okada riders operating at Dangote Cement Factory junction at Ibese were said to have resisted the hike from N600 to N800 by the union leaders, which led to the fights among them.

It was further gathered that the crisis began on Monday before it escalated to an ethnic attacks between Hausa and Yoruba in the area.

The locals disclosed that seven persons were killed while over 12 motorcycles were razed as the villagers intercepted Dangote trucks and used them to barricade road to stop movement in the area.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the clash escalated on Tuesday when soldiers allegedly shot aggrieved indigenes, leading to the death of one while another person was wounded.

The incident was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi.

The police spokesperson, however, failed to comment on the casualties.
