EKO HOT BLOG reports that seven members of the Imo State PDP Working Committee, including Collins Opurozor, the state publicity secretary, recently resigned from their positions and withdrew their memberships from the party.
They cited dissatisfaction with Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s candidate for the upcoming governorship election, and expressed concerns about the damaged state of the party.
Opurozor held a press conference where he criticized Anyanwu’s suitability for governance and accused him of using his position as National Secretary to intimidate and fight against the committee members.
The resigning members mentioned instances of violence, attempted assassinations, and the erosion of democratic values within the party.
While they did not disclose their new party affiliation, they assured that it would be announced in the near future.
The committee members expressed disappointment in the decline of the Imo State PDP under Anyanwu’s leadership and highlighted the need for a more inclusive and consultative party system.
Their resignations come at a crucial time, as the governorship election draws near and the political landscape in Imo State undergoes a significant shift.
The impact of their departure and the subsequent reveal of their next political move remain uncertain, adding intrigue and speculation to the unfolding political scenario in the state.
