-
Their challenge failed at the Federal High Court and a Court of Appeal before the final judgement of the Supreme Court.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Supreme Court on Friday settled the candidacy of Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas (retd) as the standard bearer of the People’s Democratic Party in Taraba State.
EDITOR’S PICKS
Two governorship aspirants, Prof. Jerome Nyameh and Hon. Hilkiah Buba Joda-Mafinda, had instituted a case against Kefas challenging the process that returned him as the candidate of the party.
They accused him of violating Part Vii, Article 1 of the Electoral Guidelines for the Primary Elections of the PDP having failed to resign as the state party chairman.
The plaintiffs argued that Kefas only resigned six days before the election and many days after the screening of aspirants on April 28, when he was still the State Chairman of the PDP.
In September, the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, dismissed the case against the PDP candidate for lacking in merit.
Similarly, Court of Appeal in Yola dismissed the case in November, describing it as an internal affair of the party.
Dissatisfied with the verdicts, Nyameh approached the Supreme Court to nullify the primary election.
