EKO HOT BLOG reports that former Lagos State Governor and Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has emerged the winner of the party’s presidential primary election currently ongoing at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

He defeated other contenders including former Minister Of Transportation, Rotimi Amechi; Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, among others with a significant margin.

Tinubu polled a total of 1,271 votes to emerge the flagbearer of the ruling party in the 2023 presidential election.

Rotimi Amechi came second with 316 votes; Yemi Osinbajo polled 235 votes and Ahmad Lawan 152 votes to clinch third and fourth places respectively.

Yahaya Bello – 47 votes

Dave Umahi – 38 votes

Ben Ayade – 37 votes

Sani Yerima – 4 votes

Christopher Onu – 1 vote

Emeka Nwajuiba- 1 vote

Tunde Bakare – 0 vote

Jack -Rich Tein – 0 vote

Rochas Okorocha – 0 vote

Ikeobasi Mokelu – 0 vote

During the convention on Tuesday night, aspirants like Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Governor Kayode Fayemi, Dimeji Bankole, Godswill Akpabio and three others withdrew from the race and urged all their supporters and delegates to vote for Tinubu.

The APC Chieftain will face the opposition PDP’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar among other candidates at next year’s election.
