JUST IN: Two PDP Lawmakers Dump Party For APC
Two PDP lawmakers have dumped the party for APC.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that two lawmakers in the Anambra State House of Assembly have announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers, Mr. Douglas Egbuna representing Onitsha North l Constituency, and Mr. Onyebuchi Offor representing Ekwusigo Constituency, announced their defection to the APC at plenary in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Wednesday.
Offor, who is the Minority Leader of the Anambra Assembly, stated that he consulted widely with his family and mentor on his decision to defect to the APC.
“It’s time I join the party at the centre so that my constituents can feel and experience the presence of the ruling party,” the lawmaker said.
On his part, Egbuna also said he dumped PDP for APC after several consultations.
The Speaker of the House, Mr. Uche Okafor, congratulated the lawmakers just as he wished them well in their new party.
It would be recalled that no fewer than four lawmakers elected on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in the Anambra State of Assembly, also defected to the APC last month.
The lawmakers include Dr. Timothy Ifedioranma, (Njikoka l), Carter Dike-Umeh, (Aguata l), Mr. Smart Okafor, (Nnewi North), and Mr. Lawrence Ezeudu, (Dunukofia).
With the defection of the lawmakers, the APC now has six members, leaving the PDP with four members, while APGA has 20 members in the House.
