EKO HOT BLOG reports that unidentified gunmen have attacked Agulu community in Anaocha local government area, Anambra state.
The attack on Saturday forced soldiers at a checkpoint to flee.
Agulu is well-known for being the hometown of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate and former Anambra State governor, Mr Peter Obi.
Eyewitnesses reports the gunmen, who arrived in Hulux trucks and Toyota Jeeps, attacked a military checkpoint set up near the Agulu town hall on the Agulu-Nanka road and fired at the soldiers.
In a trending video of the incident now viral on Social Media, voices can be heard saying that some of the soldiers were killed at the spot, no casaulty was shown but gunshots were heard.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, did not respond to call to confirm the report as at press time. The attack in Agulu is coming barely 24 hours after hoodlums struck in Osumenyi, another community in Anambra state and killed five people in a drinking joint on Friday night
