JUST IN: Unknown Gunmen Abduct KWASU Student
- Unknown gunmen have abducted a student of KWASU.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a female student of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.
It was gathered that the victim, identified as Isiaq Khadeejah, is a 300 level student of the institution.
EKOHOTBLOG learnt that the student was walking on the street in the company of her friends when she was abducted by the gunmen on Sunday at Malete.
Confirming the incident, the Director, University Relations, Abdulrazaq Sanni, said the management and entire university community, woke up to “the shocking news about Isiaq Khadeejah, a student of Mass Communication, who was reportedly kidnapped on Sunday, August 22,2021, along Okoru Road in Malete.”
Sanni further stated that “the management is working assiduously with relevant security operatives to secure the release of Khadeejah, ensure that the culprits are brought to book, and also provide adequate security on the campus.”

He added that the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Lawal Bagega, has also deployed the anti-kidnapping squad as well as the IGP Response Team to Malete to work in collaboration with the local vigilantes and other relevant agencies to rescue the victim.
“The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi, (SAN), has advised the university community to be more security conscious, report strange or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, while students should avoid keeping late nights.
“He assured that measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of lives and properties of students and staff of the institution,” the KWASU spokesman stated.
Meanwhile, EKOHOTBLOG gathered that the officials of the institution have held a security meeting in connection with the development at the state Ministry of Education headquarters in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The spokesman of the state police command, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi, when contacted, said the command will exert efforts to rescue the abducted student.
