Eko Hot Blog reports that the giant messaging app, WhatsApp, has stopped working for several users globally.
This medium observed that users were unable to send or receive messages.
The outage, which has potentially affected billions of users, led to a huge spike of reports on outage tracking website DownDetector, with users around the world reporting problems.
Users have also taken to other social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to vent their frustrations.
Neither WhatsApp nor its parent company, Meta, has commented on the outage.
The app, which went offline around 8:20am, came back online at 9:50am.
