Five individuals have been indicted in Argentina following the tragic death of British singer Liam Payne, who fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires in October after consuming drugs and alcohol, according to prosecutors.

Three of the accused face manslaughter charges, while two others have been charged with supplying illegal drugs to the former One Direction star. Authorities identified the suspects only by their initials.

Payne, 31, died on October 16 after falling from the balcony of his third-floor room at the Casa Sur Hotel. His death sent shockwaves worldwide, prompting grief from family, fans, former bandmates, and industry colleagues. Vigils were held in various cities as fans paid tribute to the singer.

According to prosecutors, the manslaughter charges were brought against Payne’s travel representative, the hotel manager, and the head of the reception desk. The two individuals charged with drug supply a hotel employee and a waiter Payne reportedly met in the city have been taken into custody.

 

Investigators revealed that Payne had consumed cocaine, alcohol, and a prescription antidepressant before the fatal fall.
