Juventus Coach Expresses Confidence That Ronaldo Will Be Fit For Ajax Clash
With heightened apprehensions that superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, might not be fit for the Champions League quarter-final first leg clash with Ajax this week, Juventus manger, Massimiliano Allegri, has said he is confident that the former Real Madrid man will be fit for the encounter.
Ronaldo, who was missing again as Juve sealed a 2-1 victory over AC Milan yesterday, has not featured in three league games for the Seria A leaders.
His absence for Maximillioano Allegri’s men followed a hamstring injury he sustained while on international duty with Portugal two weeks ago.
Providing an update after the clash in Turin, Allegri said he cautiously took the decision not to name the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in the squad in view of Wednesday.
“He [Ronaldo] always feels ready, but I told him to rest [today]. We are confident of having him at Ajax on Wednesday,” Allegri told Sky Italiaa.
Against Milan, second-half strikes from Paulo Dybala and Moise Kean ensured Juve came from behind to win 2-1, meaning they will clinch the title if Napoli lose to Genoa on Sunday.
With the Portuguese superstar boasting of five Champions League winners medals, it is an open secret Juve added him to their ranks due to his reputation as the player who has been most pivotal in the Champions League in the last ten years.
And Juve fans remain hopeful with him in the side, they can ride the wave and land their first Champions League medal
since 1996.
