EKO HOT BLOG had reported how on 28 March, 2022 some bandits set explosives on the train track that runs between Abuja and Kaduna.
Immediately the explosion forced the train to a halt, the bandits opened fire on the train, killing 9 persons and injuring several others.

Scores of the passengers were also reported to have been taken as hostages.
The Kaduna State Government had said that 362 persons were on board before the attack, according to a manifest obtained from the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC). However, unconfirmed reports said more than 900 persons were aboard.

The train became a better option when Abuja-Kaduna highway which connects to the North-western part of the country was no longer safe for travel due to incessant kidnappings.

Dr. Chinelo
Canada-bound Dr Chinelo worked with St. Gerald hospital, Kaduna before she met her untimely death during the attack.
Confirming her death, Secretary of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Kaduna state branch, Aisha Mustapha, said the doctor was supposed to travel to Canada on Friday before her life was cut short.
NMA described the doctor as dedicated to her job and one who will be sorely missed.
Tributes also poured in for her on social media as many people attested to her kind and gentle demeanour.
Barrister Musa Lawal Ozigi
Barrister Ozigi was the Secretary General of Trade Union Congress (TUC).
President of the TUC, Comrade Quadri Olaleye, confirmed that the Labour leader was killed in the attack.
According to him, Ozigi was travelling to Kaduna for an engagement scheduled for Tuesday March 29.
Abdu Isa Kofar Mata
Kofar Mata was until his death a director at the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
His younger brother told BBC Pidgin that he died from gunshot wounds sustained during the attack and that the family was devastated over his death.
He added that the deceased was always ready to help the needy.
