Vice President Kamala Harris conducted interviews with potential vice-presidential candidates in advance of a battleground state tour scheduled for next week.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that among those visiting Washington, DC, to meet with Harris were Governor Josh Shapiro, Senator Mark Kelly, and Governor Tim Walz.
Reports have it that the pool of candidates for the Democratic vice-presidential slot has been narrowed to five individuals.
The decision on Harris’s running mate must be made before the Democratic National Convention begins on August 19 in Chicago.
It is not clear if other potential candidates, such as Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear or Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, were part of the interviews with Harris.
Harris officially became the Democratic presidential nominee on Friday, following a vote by party delegates.

Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, a former Navy pilot and NASA astronaut known for his advocacy on gun safety and strong border policies might appeal to independent and conservative voters.
Governor Tim Walz, who served in Congress for 12 years before becoming Minnesota’s governor in 2019, recently gained national attention for his remarks about Donald Trump and JD Vance.
President Joe Biden mentioned on Friday that he had discussed the search for a running mate with Harris. When asked about the qualities needed in a vice-presidential candidate, Biden said, “I’ll let her work that out.”
Candidates for the vice-presidential slot will undergo a rigorous vetting process, answering up to 200 questions before being seriously considered for the position.
