EKO HOT BLOG reports that actor Jonathan Majors’ performance as Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming Marvel film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has received critical acclaim ahead of its release on February 18.
The character is set to become the next major villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), succeeding Thanos, and will appear in several upcoming MCU projects, including his own film, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, set for release in 2025.
However, according to Majors, he doesn’t necessarily consider the character as a villain like many believe he is, when things are viewed from Kang’s perspective.
“What Kang is going for is essentially good for him and potentially only for him,” Majors said of his character.
To prepare for the role, Jonathan Majors revealed he listened to Stevie Wonder’s “If It’s Magic,” a song that he felt connected to the character’s essence, rather than the expected genre of heavy metal.
On Kang being the hero of his own story, Majors explained by using real life analogy of people being inherently good and believe that they are inherently good.
Kang’s actions are good for him and potentially only for him, which aligns with the idea that he is the hero of his own story and potentially other people’s stories. However, this is where things get “conquer-y.”, the actor stressed.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” is set to release worldwide on February 17th, and fans are eagerly anticipating Majors’ performance as Kang the Conqueror.
