Kankara Abduction: 3 Months After, Kastina Reopens Boarding Schools
The Katsina government has ordered the resumption of academic activities in five boarding schools in the state.
The directive, which will see to the continuation of the 2020/2021 academic session, will take effect from Sunday, March 28.
The directive is contained in a statement by Sani Suleiman, public relations officer in the state ministry of education.
The state government also gave the nod for reopening of all female boarding secondary schools.
However, female pupils are to resume at nearby day schools within their locations on Wednesday, March 24.
Ekohotblog had reported how schools in the state were shut in December following the abduction of more than 300 students of the Government Science Secondary School (GSSS), Kankara.
The students regained freedom five days after their abduction.
According to the statement, COVID-19 protocol must be strictly adhered to by staff, students and visitors.
“In line with the Katsina State policy on School’s resumption, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari (CFR) has directed the reopening of all Female Boarding Secondary Schools on Day System Basis to nearby Schools of their locations/residence on Wednesday 24th March, 2021,” the statement said.
