Eko Hot Blog reports that the Kano State Hisbah Corps, a religious police force tasked with enforcing Sharia law among Muslims, has arrested 20 men and women for allegedly bathing together at a recreation center on Ring Road.
Violation of Hisbah Legislation
According to Mujahidin Aminuddin Abubakar, the deputy commandant general of the board, the act constitutes an offense under the Hisbah legislation, which explicitly prohibits individuals of different genders from bathing together in the same space.
“The act could have been replaced with a more commendable alternative, resulting in blessings from God,” Abubakar stated, expressing dismay over the action.
Parental Supervision Emphasized
Abubakar emphasized the importance of parents and guardians closely monitoring their children’s whereabouts, urging them to ensure their safety and adherence to societal norms.
Investigation and Punishment Awaits
He further revealed that once the investigation into the incident concludes, the suspects will face suitable punishment for their actions.
Strict Enforcement of Sharia Law
The arrest highlights the Hisbah Corps’ strict enforcement of Sharia law in Kano, with a focus on maintaining gender segregation and upholding religious and moral codes.
