EKO HOT BLOG reports that the New Nigeria Peoples Party has dismissed claims that the party has reached an agreement with the ruling All Progressives Congress over its (the NNPP’s) appeal at the Supreme Court.
The party’s National Auditor, Ladipo Johnson, who disclosed this in a phone interview with our correspondent on Saturday, said though one could not prevent people from circulating rumours, the claim was false.
The Kano State chapter of the APC had also denied any agreement with the NNPP.
The alleged deal, according to the state Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, is only a fiction.
Governor Abba Yusuf had appealed at the Supreme Court in response to the Court of Appeal’s judgement that affirmed the State Election Petitions Tribunal’s decision to nullify his victory in the March 18 governorship election in the state.
However, Johnson said, “What you hear are street talks and you can’t stop street talks from happening.
“I am not sure any senior officer in the party will tell you that is necessary. We are trying to win in court and Abba Kabir Yusuf will continue to deliver good services to the people of Kano.”
