The Chairman of the commission, Prof. Sani Malumfashi, announced the new date while addressing newsmen in Kano on Friday.

“In recognition and conformity with the recent Supreme Court decision,the mutual agreement between States and the Federal Government upon the expiration of October deadline.
“The commission is justifiably compelled to reschedule the Local Government election to Oct.26 as against Nov.30,” Malumfashi said.
KANSIEC had earlier fixed N10 million and N5 million naira as nomination fees for chairmanship and councillorship positions.
He said that campaigns for the election are to commence from September 1st while sales of nomination forms begin on September 16th.
He added that the submission of forms and verification of candidates are slated for September 27th while substitution of candidates by political parties is allowed till October 18th, according to the commission.
Malumfashi said the election results would be declared immediately after counting of the votes and runoff is fixed for November 9th.
