House of Representatives

In light of the security challenges bedeviling the country, the House of Representatives has yet again implored President Muhammadu Buhari to tinker with and revamp the security architecture of the country.

The call is coming in the wake of the recent abduction of students of Government Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State.

The abduction has also led to renewed calls for the removal of service chiefs.

The lower legislative chamber also charged the federal government to ensure the safe return of the students to their parents.

The resolution is sequel to a motion of urgent public importance moved by Seriki Adar from Sokoto State on Tuesday.

Eko Hot Blog had reported how hundreds of students were abducted by bandits on Friday night at a government school in Katsina.

Speaking on the motion, Adar said the motion is not politically motivated, adding that it has the backing of all lawmakers irrespective of political party.

“This is a bipartisan motion. we do not want what happened to the last motion to happen to this motion. We do not want any controversy.”

The House also suggested that the Federal government review the Safe School Initiative and direct the committee on legislative compliance to ensure compliance.
