Katsina Abduction: ‘Those Using Our Children As Pawn Must Be Held Accountable’ – Okonjo-Iweala
Former minister of finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has warned that those using Nigerian children as ‘pawn’ must be held accountable.
She stated this on her official Twitter page while reacting to the abduction of over 300 students from the Government Science Secondary school, Kankara in Katsina State.
The former Minister described the incident as a recurring nightmare that needs the government urgent attention.
Eko Hot Blog had earlier reported that several hundreds of school children were abducted on Friday night by armed gunmen.
But, it also reported that Boko Haram on Tuesday, claimed responsibility for the kidnap, stating that the boys were abducted to discourage western education and promote Islam.
Reacting, Okonjo-Iweala urged the authorities to do all possible to rescue the boys.
