Katsina Deputy Governor Resigns to join Governorship race

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Deputy Governor of Katsina State, QS Mannir Yakubu, resigned from his political post as Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources in order to declare his interest in running for governor of the state in 2023.
The resignation was contained in a statement issued to the Press by the Chief Press Secretary to the Katsina Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Musa kallah, late night Tuesday.
According to the statement, the decision was in compliance with Section 84 (12) of the 2022 electoral act as amended which requires all political appointees and public servants interested in contesting for election to resign their appointment.
The Katsina Deputy Governor in the statement “thanked the Almighty Allah and Governor Aminu Masari for giving him the opportunity to contribute towards the restoration of agriculture in the state under the Masari’s administration.”

Katsina Deputy Governor also “expressed his delight over the repositioning of the agricultural sector, where farmers saw a turnaround in agricultural productivity, ensuring food security and agro-industrial demands of the state and Nigeria at large,” the statement reads.
