Kayokayo Festival is the biggest cultural event in Epe, Lagos.

It is celebrated annually a month after the Eid-El-Kabir (Ileya) festival.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the 2023 Kayokayo Festival, on Friday, got off to a flying start.
The festival kicked off with a press conference at the Palace of the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr Shefiu Adewale.

Day one of the Kayokayo festival, which involved a press conference and Tahajud prayers, commenced with an opening prayer from the Saromi of Epe kingdom, High Chief Muyideen Adeniyi.
The coordinator of the festival, Otunba TJ Abass, in his opening speech, gave a brief exposition on what the Kayokayo festival is all about, reeling out the programmes for the week and stating the significance of the festival.
The coordinator also fielded questions from reporters on the sequence of events lined up for the festival.
Oba Adewale gave a hearty welcome to everyone who came out to commemorate the iconic Kayokayo festival.
“I want to appreciate God who has kept us since last year to this present moment. Those who started this festival together are no more now may God almighty forgive them their sins,” he said.
“Some said we have no culture, and that was what gave rise to the Kayokayo festival, and it is progressing every time. It is no longer a local festival but a global one now.”
The Olu-Epe further appreciated the relentless efforts of Otunba Abass and other organising committee members in keeping the flame of the festival alive year after year.
The press conference was attended by eminent personalities such as Oloja-elect of Lagos, Abiola Kosoko, and his wife, the Acting MD of Lagos State Television (LTV), High Chief Muyideen, High Chief Musiliudeen Adeniyi, as well as media organisations, including as Eko Hot Blog, Epe Trends, amongst others.
The Oloja-elect gave his speech and donated N500,000 towards the success of the Kayokayo festival.
He also issued three cheques of N20,000 each as cash gift for the top three students in the Quran recitation competition coming up later in the week. He further promised to donate more for the next Kaykayo festival.
The Day One activity of the Kayokayo festival came to an end with a closing prayer from Alhaji Musbaudeen Adeola.
