“We must not allow divisive elements to divide us” – Alara.
EDITOR’S PICKS:
Alara of Ilara Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, Telade IV, has called on Epe indigenes to enthrone the values of love, tolerance and togetherness as the necessary index to fostering socio-political stability in the Division.
Alara was speaking during the recently concluded kayokayo festival, an annual event observed by the people of Epe Kingdom to usher in the Islamic New Year and also commemorate the arrival of King Kosoko to Epe Kingdom from Lagos Island in 1851, a historical voyage that is largely responsible for a significant fraction of the cultural and religious elements that characterise Epe Division.
“What I want us to take home is that all of us in Epe Division are one. We must not allow divisive elements to divide us. We must always speak in one voice. As we have all gathered here in unity to celebrate the Kayokayo festival, that is how we should celebrate all other festivals across the Division.”
“When we forge a united force, leaders in Government will respect us and it will pave way for the establishment of dividends of democratic governance in our communities. So, let’s, as a people unite as one strong indivisible entity.”
Alara also used the medium to implore Epe residents to disregard the conspiracy theories surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines and promptly inoculate themselves from the virus which is beginning to produce new and more lethal variants.
“Apart from the protocol that has been well established in some places, the washing of hands, use of hand sanitisers and social distancing, it is also very important that everyone should go out and take the vaccine. I want to advise that they should take the advantage of the availability of the vaccine.”
