“If we all do what we are all capable of doing, we will astound ourselves.”
The above quote aptly encapsulates the just concluded 2021 Kayokayo festival, which was a resounding success.
The success was made possible by the steadfast support from the sons, daughters, friends and well wishes of the Epe Kingdom.
The planning process, which entailed fundraising as well as the critical need to rally sons and daughters of Epe around a festival that projects our deepest held values, couldn’t have accomplished a better result than we hoped for.

Kayokayo has always been synonymous with jettisoning our differences and embracing our commonalities to showcase the strength of unity and cohesion. We’re glad to have accomplished this goal holistically.
Our goal was to demonstrate what could be achieved not by placing the thrust of responsibility on a powerful few but by pitching in our widow’s mite to serve our community.
Our goal was to show the strength and character of our community, and that we did.
Kayokayo festival has evolved over the years.
We have changed the ethos, the understanding, the perspectives of the festival.
Some of the few innovations introduced into the 2021 festival exemplified the dynamism that will continue to characterise it in succeeding years.
We are already looking forward to the 2022 festival when our corporate sponsors, rather than make financial contributions, would provide employment opportunities to our teeming youths who possess the talents and skills to thrive in today’s competitive labour space.
We are also looking forward to the active participation we have enjoyed from the community this year.
Kayokayo may have come and gone, but we as a community must continue to actively be part of the unyielding quest to leverage our immense cultural and tourism potentials towards economic development.
The Ebi festival, the Okoshi, the Boat Regatta, Kilajolu, to mention a few are part of the cultural gallery that must be leveraged for the benefit of our community.
Thank you all for being part of our story, a beautiful story of commitment and dedication to forge ahead despite the dialectics of our differences.
To all sons and daughters of the Epe division community, our friends, well-wishers, Epe indigenes in diaspora, Lagosians in diaspora, thanks for trusting us with your hard-earned resources.
Individual letters of appreciation will be forwarded to you as soon as possible.
Thank you all for being part of our history.
