Eko Hot Blog reports that the 2024 Kayokayo Festival featured a significant and spiritually enriching Jumat service held at the First Epe Central Mosque, Oke Balogun in Epe, Lagos State.
The service was graced by an array of royal fathers and dignitaries, marking a moment of unity and reverence within the community.
Among the distinguished attendees were the Olu Epe of Epe Kingdom, Oba Shefiu Ọlatunji Adewale, the Alara of Ilara, Oba Dr. Olukayode Ogunsanwo, and the Elejinrin of Ejinrin Kingdom, Oba Babatunde Balogun.
Alhaji Seriki Akanni Bamu and other prominent monarchs and dignitaries were also in attendance, demonstrating the festival’s significance in the region.
The prayer session was led by Chief General Imam Abiola Abdul Rahman Sadalla, who delivered heartfelt prayers for the community’s prosperity and the repose of the souls of Epe’s past heroes.
He also prayed for the long life and continued wisdom of the Olu Epe, Oba Adewale, and all other monarchs and dignitaries present.
The service was a blend of tradition and spirituality, reflecting the deep cultural heritage of the Epe community.
As the prayers resonated through the mosque, there was a sense of unity and shared purpose among the attendees.
In his sermon, Imam Sadalla emphasized the importance of community cohesion and the role of traditional leadership in fostering peace and development.
He urged the congregants to uphold the values of their forebears and work collectively towards the progress of Epe.
The Kayokayo Festival, known for its vibrant celebrations and deep cultural roots, continues to be a pivotal event in Epe, drawing participants from various walks of life.
This year’s Jumat service underscored the festival’s enduring significance and the community’s commitment to preserving its rich heritage.
