“Kayokayo Is Our Heritage,” Princess Animashaun Sues For Civic Engagement

First female Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun has doubled down on her commitment towards leveraging the tourism potentials of Epe Division towards socio-economic and infrastructural development.

Princess Animashaun was speaking after a press conference held to herald the commencement of the 2021 kayo kayo festival on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Palace of Olu-Epe, Oba Shefiu Adewale.

The Chairman, who was full of praise for the tourism potentials of Epe Division also asked to be nominated into the kayo kayo planning committee to enable her fully participate in the planning process of subsequent editions of the festival.

She described kayokayo as a veritable platform that demonstrates the peaceable and loving nature of Epe people, and enjoined the people to embrace the hallowed virtues that the festival represents.

“Kayokayo is all about showing love to one another. Its a way of showing the kind of people we are; the love we have for people, and the love we have for ourselves.

“If not for this COVID I think we would have done an elaborate one, but as time goes by I can assure you that by next year we are going to have a very big kayokayo.

“The significance of the kayokayo is to bring people together. Since its our culture, our heritage, there should be a common goal to facelift Epe. So we just have to come together to make this thing happen. Its a bond we shouldn’t allow to break.”

“Like we all know, 27th of September is World Tourism day. So we’ll be trying to showcase what we have to the world. So, I implore the people of Epe to look forward to that day.”

Reacting to what Epe Division should expect from her administration, the newly elected chairman promised to effect positive changes in the critical areas of the social fabric of the society that will significantly change lives for the better.
