Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor of Kebbi State has promised support for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in carrying out its duties.

Governor Nasir Idris reiterated his administration’s readiness to partner with the NSCDC at a passing out parade for 71 new recruits on Friday.

“I have seen exceptional display of talents and exceptional way of handling the weapon here today. We are ready to partner with you just as we are doing with other security agencies,” the governor said via a representative.

Idris commended the NSCDC for its role in fighting crime across Kebbi. He praised the talents shown by the graduating corps members and urged them to be good ambassadors for the NSCDC. The governor donated 500,000 naira to the top three recruits in a rifles demonstration at the ceremony.

In his address, NSCDC Commandant Kabiru Abubakar Alkamawa called on the new recruits to be productive in tackling criminals. He said the 71 Kebbi natives were familiar with the state’s customs, traditions and terrain.

“The recruits have undergone six months training needed for them to be able to carryout their legitimate duties with all sense of commitment,” Alkamawa stated. The NSCDC celebrated its World Day along with the passing out event.
