The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called for unity among Africans.
She also urged Nigerians in the Diaspora with dual citizenship to keep a foot at home and wave the green-white-green flag as a badge of honour.
Dabiri-Erewa made this plea while welcoming Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Onwe Adetshina, at NIDCOM’s office in Lagos.
The NIDCOM boss commended Chidinma’s bounce-back amidst the circumstances surrounding her emergence as Miss Universe Nigeria. Chidinma’s resilience, she says, is a perfect snapshot of that Nigerian energy which has become our hallmark all over the world.

“If you have dual citizenship, don’t take the second one for granted. Nigeria has been there in this trying moment for you,but I am glad you are home”.
Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Onwe Adetshina, visibly impressed with the hospitality and warm welcome accorded her, thanked the Chairman/CEO, (NIDCOM).
“I am so honoured to be sitting in front of you and thank you for this beautiful reception,“ she responded, “I wear this crown with immense pride, and I am committed to making Nigeria proud”.
Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Onwe Adetshina, is getting set to take Nigeria’s sparkles to Miss World 2024 in Mexico later in the year.
Also in attendance was Mr. Guy Murray-Bruce as well as the masterminds of Miss Universe Nigeria Beauty Pageant who shared their excitement about giving Chidinma the stage to shine.
Later at the reception, music legend, D’Banj, also showered accolades on Chidinma and treated the crowd to a special performance in her honour.
Miss Chidimma Onwe Adetshina had earlier been forced to withdraw from the pageant in South Africa because of her dual nationality, though she was born there twenty-three years ago.
As Chidinma readies herself to represent Nigeria in Mexico, fingers are crossed, and hopes are high that the Nigeria star power will light up the stage once again.
