Kennedy Jr. Withdraws from Presidential Race, Endorses Trump

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who had been running as a Democratic candidate for the 2024 U.S. presidential election, has officially withdrawn from the race.

Kennedy, an environmental lawyer and the son of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy had positioned himself as a challenger to President Joe Biden within the Democratic Party.

His campaign focused on issues such as public health, environmental protection, and civil liberties. However, his candidacy faced criticism from many within the Democratic establishment, particularly due to his stance on COVID-19 vaccines, which many saw as promoting misinformation.

Kenedey., the son of Bobby Kennedy, who was killed while running for the White House, has thrown his support behind the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.

Kennedy, the nephew of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in Dallas in 1963, is also the son of former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, who launched his own presidential campaign before being assassinated in 1968.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was just 14 years old when his father was killed.

Speaking at a news conference, Kennedy said Democrats were no longer “champions of the constitution” and had departed “dramatically” from the “core values” he grew up with.

He added his campaign team had “pulled off a miracle” by making him a presidential candidate.

“You showed everyone democracy is still possible here,” he said. “Today I’m here to tell you I will not allow your efforts to go to waste.”

Mr Kennedy added he believed that in an “honest system” he would have won the election.

Reports of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s withdrawal from the presidential race surfaced in court documents submitted by his campaign team.

According to the Associated Press, a Pennsylvania court filing requested his removal from the state’s ballot. Additionally, on Thursday, Arizona officials confirmed that Kennedy had filed paperwork to withdraw from the presidential ballot in that state.
