Kenny Kadri-Edu Foundation Trains Epe Youths On Digital Skills
By Kaka Babatunde
A former Epe Local Government Vice Chairman, Comrade Hon Kenny Kadri-Edu, has emphasised the need to support the quest to ensure Lagos becomes a Smart City as enshrined in the Education and Technology T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State.
Comrade Kenny-Kadri disclosed this at the 2-day Digital Skills booth camp organised by the Kenny Kadri-Edu Foundation for the youths of Epe in partnership with other organisations.
The training, which is solely meant to equip the youths with 21st Century digital compliant skills, was held at the famous Jubilee Chalet Epe attracted youths and some stakeholders in the community.
Eko Hot Blog reports that over 60 youths from communities in Epe who immensely benefitted from the free and highly educative program co-sponsored by the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (BOS) Project, Office of Hon Wale Raji, House of Representatives member, Epe Federal Constituency, Epe Professional Women Association (EPWA) and Club Seventies Epe.

Kenny commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his commitment towards the actualisation of Lagos as a Smart City, stressing that the installation of fibre pipelines going on around the whole city was an indication of what to expect.
She noted that the Governor’s tremendous T.H.E.M.E.S agenda significantly informed her decision to prepare the youths for opportunities abound in the tech world, adding that such would eradicate youth unemployment and poverty.
“So, that is the more reason we have to prepare our youths, in readiness for the opportunities to come. A researcher said that in the next three years (2025), we will have about 95 million jobs created within the digital space.
Then, if you are not prepared by acquiring the necessary skills and competence, you won’t be able to seize all the opportunities Governor Sanwo-Olu, is trying to provide.”
“I want to see them moving from unemployed youths to employers of labour and successful entrepreneurs, which is possible with digital skills because with your smartphone and little data or free WiFi available around, you can make a lot of money. The youths can create a lot of jobs and become business owners. So, that is what I want to see them become in life, after this training”, she asserted.
The President of Epe Professional Women Association (EPWA), Professor Basirat Oladipupo, in her remarks, while addressing the gathering, applauded the convener for the initiative.
Basirat applauded Kenny’s spirit of altruism and commitment to the youths and the Epe community.
The world today is interconnected, and it is in the palm of every smartphone user. The opportunities presented by the programme must be judiciously harnessed for their benefit and the development of society.
“Make the best use of this training to add extra value to yourselves. There is money in the digital space, all those bloggers, skit makers and so on, what they do, they monetise their pages and the moment you go to their pages to watch their contents, they are being paid by Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and the rest, while they (bloggers) smile to the banks, she concluded.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lead Facilitator and resource person, Mr Abiola Kabiru, Managing Director, Digitalents Hub Limited, applauded the convener, Kadri-Edu, for the initiative.
Abiola implored the community leaders to take cues from Kenny’s benevolent gesture and organise similar programs to empower our youths.
I am impressed with the attention and participation, of the beneficiaries, in all the programmes. So, it is a wonderful workshop. We will expect more leaders in the society to host this kind of training to empower our youths,” he said.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that participants admonished the Convener to keep the flag flying while also appreciating the warm reception and hospitality experienced during the training.
They stressed that it was a rare privilege to have participated in the boot camp, which they described as an eye-opener to several opportunities in the digital space through the use of their mobile phones and laptops.
